Hey there,
There are a million things you could worry about as a new mum.
Is my baby sleeping enough? Feeding enough? Developing normally? Am I doing enough? Should I be doing what that other mum is doing?
But what if, instead of trying to find the “right” answer to everything, you came back to just three questions?
1. How am I actually feeling about this?
Before opening Google, asking AI or checking what everyone else is doing, stop for a second.
What do I think? How does this feel to me?
Sometimes we become so focused on finding the expert answer that we forget our own thoughts and feelings are part of the equation too.
You don’t have to know everything to have an instinct worth listening to.
2. What works for my baby and my family?
This is something we come back to again and again at The Tiny Big Joys.
Two babies can need completely different things. Two families can make completely different choices. Both can be doing great.
So instead of only asking “What should I be doing?”, try asking:
“Does this work for us?”
Expert advice can give you knowledge and ideas. But you’re the one who knows the baby in front of you.
3. Where is the gap?
This might be the most useful question of all.
What is it that I don’t understand yet?
Maybe your baby suddenly stopped sleeping and you have no idea why. Maybe feeding feels harder than you expected. Maybe you’re wondering whether something your baby is doing is normal.
You don’t need to know everything.
You just need to recognise the gap between what you know now and what would help you feel more confident, and then find someone you trust to help you fill it.
And really, that’s the idea behind The Tiny Big Joys.
🎙️ And today, we’re officially back
Before we dive into the deep end, we’re sharing two two short conversations to introduce you to the people and story behind The Tiny Big Joys.
First, I’m sharing the story behind TTBJ: where it all began, why I started the original podcast in Finland, and what made me realize it was time to bring it back.
Listen to Part 1: [Link to Episode 1]
Then, you’ll get to know Olivia, our host for the season. She shares her own motherhood journey, who she is behind the mic, and why this space matters so much to her.
Listen to Part 2: [Link to Episode 2]
Think of these two episodes as an introduction before the expert conversations begin. Starting next week, we’re bringing your real questions directly to brilliant experts to talk about sleep, feeding, development, first illnesses, bonding and so much more that comes with your baby’s first year.
With warmth,
