Hi there,
Maybe you found us through Instagram, the podcast, or another parent sharing this with you, either way, welcome!
It is incredibly easy to get caught up in the endless data surrounding baby sleep online. Between tracking wake windows, memorizing rigid schedules, and trying to follow strict routines, it can quickly start to feel like everyone else received a manual that you missed out on.
That is exactly why we wanted to look at this topic from a completely different perspective.

In a recent episode of The Tiny Big Joys, Annabella sat down with baby sleep expert Lauren Weber. Instead of sharing another strict checklist or one-size-fits-all rules, they talked about what actually matters when it comes to baby sleep… and what matters a lot less than social media makes it seem.
Here are a few insights from their conversation that really stood out to us:
1. Your baby might not need a stricter schedule
One of the biggest mindset shifts in the episode was moving away from trying to control sleep minute by minute.
Instead of focusing on exact wake windows, Lauren talks about looking for your baby’s own rhythm and tired cues. Some babies simply need more awake time than others.
2. If naps are becoming a battle… try starting later
One practical tip Lauren shared:
If getting your baby down for naps is taking 45 minutes or an hour, your baby might simply not be tired yet.
Sometimes even starting 30–45 minutes later can completely change the mood around naps.
3. Feeding to sleep is not automatically a “bad habit”
This was such an important reminder.
If feeding your baby to sleep works for your family and everyone is getting rest, it doesn’t automatically need fixing.
4. Babies often sleep better when they feel close to us
Lauren talks a lot about reducing separation, especially at night.
Sometimes small things like keeping your baby closer, contact naps, or simply responding quickly can make a bigger difference than another “sleep strategy.”
5. You are not doing anything wrong
Honestly, this might have been the biggest takeaway from the whole episode.
Baby sleep can make parents feel like they’re constantly failing some invisible test. But so much of infant sleep is developmental, temporary, and completely normal.
And one line from the episode we can’t stop thinking about:
“Tune out the noise and tune into your baby.”
