Preparing for birth with more confidence + a look inside the book

Hi there,

If you prefer holding a physical book in your hands rather than scrolling on a screen, the print version of The Tiny Big Joys, Pregnancy & Birth - Questions from new parents like you is officially available on Amazon.

Since the book went live, I've had a few people ask what it actually looks like from the inside and how it’s structured, so I wanted to give you a proper look at what this project is all about.

To be completely honest, putting this out there as a first-time writer is equal parts exciting and nerve-wracking. It also doesn’t follow a typical prose pattern. Because it includes actual scripts and real, raw conversations from the experts and midwives who joined us on the original podcast series, it feels much more like an open discussion than a textbook.

For most of my life, the idea of giving birth absolutely terrified me. But everything changed when I stopped listening to the horror stories and took the time to understand the mechanics of what our bodies actually go through—and realized how much I could do myself to influence the experience. My absolute favorite section to put together was the breakdown of the different stages of birth. After giving birth to my daughter, looking back at how it all physically works made so much sense to me. Honestly, just reading through the science of it makes me want to go back and do it again, because I know I'd feel so much more prepared.

When you understand a little more about what's coming, it becomes easier to meet pregnancy, birth, and early motherhood with less fear and more trust in yourself.

This isn't a clinical manual or a book that says there's only one "right" way. There are honest reflections of me sharing parts of my own motherhood journey alongside the most beloved conversations from the podcast with midwives, birth professionals, and baby experts.

Inside, we openly dive into everything you need to know:

  • Preparing for birth without pressure or perfection
  • Pain relief options explained without judgment
  • What labor actually feels and looks like
  • The questions many parents quietly carry but rarely ask

Simply ordering a copy is one of the biggest ways you can support our independent team. Every single purchase directly helps us fund the work, research, and production for our upcoming podcast seasons so we can keep creating this content.

The e-book is currently live, and it's also completely free to read for anyone who is an Amazon Kindle Unlimited subscriber. You can find all the versions right here:

(If you aren't ready for the full book just yet but want a practical place to start, you can also download our [Free Birth Prep Guide here]).

Before I go, I wanted to ask your advice on something. I’ve been debating whether it would be helpful to have this available in another format. What do you think—should I record this as an audiobook? Hit reply and let me know your thoughts, I'd love to hear what you prefer!

Thank you so much for reading, for supporting this project, and for being part of this journey with us.

Warmly,

Paula Jurvanen
