Hi there,
Since we put our fifth pilot episode out into the world two weeks ago, things have been a bit quiet on the podcast front. We are officially taking a little two-month break from releasing new episodes so we can dive into all your feedback and map out what the first full season will look like… looks like it will be all about the first year of a baby.
If you haven't caught up yet, all five pilots—covering everything from baby sleep and nutrition during pregnancy, to feeding struggles, birth preparation, and relationships—are waiting for you on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Podcasts. If you have a spare ten seconds to hit follow or subscribe on your favorite platform (or all of them), it honestly makes a massive difference for a brand-new show like ours. It tells the algorithm we’re real, which helps us reach other parents who might need these conversations.
While the new podcast episodes are in works, I have been channeling all my energy into putting the final touches on a project that I have worked on for a long time now.
On June 23rd, we are officially launching our very first book: The Tiny Big Joys, Pregnancy & Birth - Questions from new parents like you.
To be completely honest with you, putting this out there is incredibly nerve-wracking. This is the very first time I have ever written anything, and my confidence is definitely wavering a bit as the days count down. Because it includes actual scripts and real conversations from the experts in our original podcast series in Finland, it doesn’t follow a typical prose pattern. It's built differently, which makes sharing it feel even more vulnerable.
And if you had told me a few years ago that I’d be putting together a book about birth, I would have laughed. For most of my life, I was absolutely terrified of the whole thing. The way birth is portrayed in movies and the horror stories we hear can make it feel like an unavoidable medical event.
But when I finally slowed down and took the time to understand the actual mechanics of what happens to our bodies, everything shifted. Realizing how much I could actively do to influence my own experience completely changed my perspective, and it’s the exact reason I wanted to start organizing events for pregnant families, the podcast and now write the book.
Alongside those real podcast scripts with midwives and birth professionals, I also share in the book some parts of my own journey that I’ve never talked about publicly before.
My absolute favorite section to go back to was the breakdown of the different stages of birth. After giving birth to my daughter, looking back at how it all physically works made so much sense to me. Honestly, looking at the science of it now makes me want to go back and do it all over again, simply because I know I would be so much more prepared for it this time around!
Whether you are currently pregnant with your first baby or you’ve already given birth and just want a space to reflect on your own experience, this book isn’t a dry clinical manual. It’s just a warm and honest book with scripts from the original podcast series and it is for you, if you just need trusted information and the space to find your own way.
Simply pre-ordering your copy on Amazon here is one of the biggest ways you can support our team and help fund the upcoming seasons of the podcast.
